Laptop Initiative: Do the Math

Pennsylvania Governor, Ed Rendell, is touting a new "Classroom of the Future" initiative.

Great media coverage, "top spin" on the $200 million initiative, but what is the "rest of the story?"

The rest of the story is in the math, or lack of math. The math behind the program needs to be disclosed so that the voting public can evaluate whether this program is viable.

I’m Dreamin’ of a White Easter

"I’m dreaming of a White Easter, unlike the ones I used to know…"

But, what does this new lyric, destined to become a classic, have to do with education?

The answer, in keeping with the mystery of the holiday is, "Not much and a lot."

The song revision was prompted by a news item where a Rhode Island school district superintendent has renamed the "Easter Bunny."

The lyrics were also prompted by the cold snap that much of our nation experienced this spring (2007).
